Economic calendar
High-impact US events this week, in your local time, with countdowns. Gold and the dollar often move sharply within minutes of these releases.

Why these events matter for gold
Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP)
US jobs added last month. The biggest monthly release: strong jobs lift the dollar and yields (usually negative for gold); weak jobs do the opposite. Gold can swing $20-40 in minutes.
CPI inflation
Consumer prices. Hotter than forecast raises rate-hike bets (dollar up, gold down at first); cooler lets the Fed ease. Core CPI (no food and energy) is watched most.
Fed decision / FOMC
The Fed's rate decision, statement and press conference. Moves everything: the tone about future rate cuts matters more than the decision itself.
Fed Chair speaks
Hints about rates. Markets react to any change in tone about inflation and cuts.
Unemployment claims
Weekly count of new jobless claims. A quick read on the job market, usually a smaller mover.
Unemployment rate
Share of people without a job. Part of the monthly jobs report.
PCE inflation
The Fed's preferred inflation gauge. Same logic as CPI: hotter = rates stay high.
PPI
Prices at the producer level. Often a preview of consumer inflation.
Retail sales
How much US consumers spent. Strong = growth and a firmer dollar.
GDP
The size of the US economy's growth. Weak growth can lift gold as a safe haven.
ISM PMI
Business surveys of factories and services. Above 50 = expansion.
JOLTS job openings
Open jobs in the US. A hint about the labor market ahead of NFP.
ADP employment
Private payrolls, released before NFP; often shifts expectations for it.
Consumer confidence
How optimistic households are; feeds spending expectations.
Rule of thumb: stronger US data and higher rate expectations usually lift the dollar and yields and weigh on gold; weaker data and rate-cut hopes usually do the opposite. Spreads widen and prices can jump around the release.
